National Commander - Rich Mariott
National Royal Rangers Commander from 1999 thru 2007
New National RR Commander Announced
Wednesday, April 7, 1999
This was an email that was sent to Royal Ranger leaders around the US.
** NATIONAL ROYAL RANGERS COMMANDER APPOINTED
Richard Mariott, Royal Rangers commander for the Northern California-Nevada
District, has been appointed the new national commander of the Assemblies of
God ministry to boys. Mariott has served as district commander since 1989
and was also appointed as district men's director in 1992.
Mariott comes to the position of national commander with a wealth of
experience in Royal Rangers. He served in his local assembly's Rangers
program before becoming district commander. With a love for the outdoors and
a burden to reach boys for Christ, Mariott believes in the effectiveness of
the Royal Rangers outreach.
A Vietnam veteran, Mariott has received one of the highest awards presented
by the Air Force, the Air Force Accommodation Medal. He will assume
leadership of the national Royal Rangers office at the General Council of
the Assemblies of God in Springfield, Mo., in June.
The Rev. Ken Hunt has resigned his position as national commander. He leaves
his office to pursue a new ministry direction after having serviced from
September 1989 to the present.
"After seeking the Lord now for many months," Hunt says, "both my wife,
Sharon, and I have come to know that God is leading us into yet another
phase of ministry. Sadly enough, this means leaving the national Royal
Rangers ministry. I give thanks for 10 wonderful years. Having fallen in
love with Royal Rangers, I have enough memories to last a lifetime."
